The legal advisor and judicial arbitrator, Muhammad Al-Wahaibi, affirmed that the laws and regulations in the Kingdom guarantee the right of citizens and residents to compensation from natural disasters, and the state guarantees the rights of citizens and their families in cases of emergency, disease, disability and old age.

Al-Wahaibi explained to “News 24What happened in Jeddah in terms of rain and torrential rains and the damage they caused to property, such as cars, equipment and real estate, requires compensation, according to regulations and legislation.

He explained that there are two types of compensation. The first is if the compensation for the vehicles stems from comprehensive insurance on those vehicles, then the insurance companies are obligated to cover the compensation for that.

He added that the second case is if the insurance is once morest others, then the compensation is through the committee that receives the compensation request in accordance with the system at the Crisis and Disaster Center in the governorate.

Al-Wahaibi noted that the right to claim compensation would be forfeited if the compensation was approved, and the review was not completed within a year from the date of approval of that compensation.
