Respiratory viruses are back: the ARS recommends wearing a mask, in case of symptoms

The end of the year is approaching and respiratory viruses are making a comeback in Guyana. The coronavirus is once once more circulating very strongly, the number of cases has doubled in one week, the incidence rate stands at 162 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days… But that’s not all, the flu, and the bronchiolitis are very present today.

Respiratory viruses are once once more circulating strongly on the territory, announces the ARS (regional health agency). The coronavirus has doubled in intensity, the number of cases has doubled in a week, the incidence rate stands at 162 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days

The viruses responsible for bronchiolitis (in young children), the flu, sometimes severe colds, gastroenteritis and Covid19 can cause a wide variety of symptoms: fatigue, muscle aches, headaches, stuffy nose, cough, diarrhea , with or without fever.

Few serious cases for the moment despite a few hospitalized patients, especially in intensive care, but the health services are alarmed for the weeks to come. The ARS provides recommendations for use: ventilation of the premises, wearing a mask if in doubt, especially in the event of symptoms, avoiding shaking hands or kissing and frequent hand washing.

It’s a return of the Covid epidemic, with an increase in the number of cases doubled in a week, circulation which resumes but we have other viruses circulating, influenza and bronchiolitis mainly affect children. Above all, it’s having in mind that whatever the virus, as soon as I feel different or sick, I put on a mask to protect myself and others. It should be remembered that the mask protects others, and protects once morest all respiratory diseases.
