Valentin jumped from a hot air balloon at an altitude of 2,600 m in Turkey: “I had to think about everything very quickly”

Valentin Delluc, one of the best speedflyers in the world, recently made a spectacular flight through the famous region of Cappadocia, Turkey. He made a series of thrilling figures in a magnificent landscape.

From the cliffs of Uçhisar Castle to the tops of fairy chimneys, wall rides and balloon jumps, Delluc has conquered one of the most magical places in Turkey, Cappadocia, with extraordinary towers he had never done before.

As part of his Fairy Flight project, Delluc jumped from a hot air balloon at an altitude of 2,600 m and performed an extraordinary flight between fairy chimneys and hot air balloons.

“It was a different flight than I’m used to. These flights require more technique. I had to think very fast and in a short time regarding everything and I had to control my energy. And the conditions were very different. But I really enjoyed this experience. From the air, Cappadocia offers an incredible view. It is a landscape that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. »

In a limited time, Delluc and the team had to deal with many factors such as natural conditions and logistics. Project director Etienne Merel explains: “The most difficult part of the project was the wind. Every day was a new adventure as we mightn’t really tell how the wind would be and if Val would be able to fly. We only had a few shooting tests, the pressure was there. We had to get the first shots. Many days we were ready to shoot on set, waiting for hours for the best conditions. Sometimes we went to the hotel without having shot. But even though we had to wake up every morning at 5 am to see all the balloons in the sky, all the scenery, it was just beautiful. Making this project a reality and being in Cappadocia was fantastic. »
