A state of anxiety experienced by Egyptian families following the spread of the respiratory syncytial virus, the Ministry of Health and Population announced that if it is proven that the child suffers from shortness of breath and cyanosis of the skin, it is likely that he is infected with the syncytial virus, and requires immediate hospitalization.
The symptoms of this virus are fever, runny nose, diarrhea, vomiting, and sore throat. The child needs to visit a specialist doctor when symptoms appear. The incubation period for the disease ranges from 4 to 6 days, and it may reach two weeks, then symptoms appear on the patient.
The Ministry of Health warns that the virus lives on surfaces for hours, and that newborns, less than 6 months of age, and children who suffer from diseases or immune diseases are the most vulnerable to severe symptoms, while pathological symptoms continue with children from two years to five years and from one to two weeks. Children under two years of age are the most common category of infection rates.
