[월드컵] Saudi Arabia declares national holiday after come-from-behind victory over Argentina

Saudi Arabia declared the 23rd a public holiday following winning a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over South American football powerhouse Argentina.

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud declared the day following the game a public holiday to celebrate the victory over Argentina on the 22nd.

As a result, all government officials, private companies and students regardless of gender and age will take a break, the Saudi government said.

Argentina is home to one of the world’s best soccer players, Lionel Messi, and is a soccer powerhouse that has gone undefeated in all 36 matches since July 2019. Because of this, Saudi Arabia’s come-from-behind victory is evaluated as the biggest upset in football history.

Arab countries also cheered with joy at the victory of Saudi Arabia.

Neighboring countries such as Syria, Jordan, and Dubai celebrated Saudi Arabia’s victory in establishing Arab pride.

Dubai’s King Sheikh Mohammed bin Rasia Al Maktoum said the Saudis “deserved victory” and called it “Arab delight”. He added that he congratulated Saudi Arabia for making us all happy.
