King Mohammed VI chaired on November 22, 2022 in Rabat, a working meeting devoted to the development of renewable energies and new perspectives in this field.

“His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, chaired, on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at the Royal Palace in Rabat, a working meeting devoted to the development of renewable energies and new perspectives in this field.
This working meeting is part of the regular monitoring by the Sovereign of the strategic objectives that the Kingdom has set itself in terms of the large-scale development of renewable energies, in particular that of increasing the share of these energies to more than 52 % of the national electricity mix by 2030.
A presentation was presented to His Majesty the King on the progress of the renewable energy development program. Fruit of a far-sighted vision of the Sovereign, this program has enabled Morocco to assert today its regional and global leadership in this major sector of energy transition.
Thus, His Majesty the King, may God assist Him, has given His High Directives with a view to accelerating the development of renewable energies, in particular solar and wind energies. By building on its progress, Morocco should accelerate the deployment of renewable energies in order to strengthen its energy sovereignty, reduce energy costs and position itself in the low-carbon economy in the decades to come.
This includes activating the implementation of projects under development, as well as enhancing Morocco’s competitive advantage to attract more national and foreign investment in the sector.
In this regard, His Majesty the King requested to accelerate the realization of the three Noor Midelt solar energy projects.
Furthermore, the increased competitiveness of renewable energies opens up promising new prospects for the Kingdom, particularly in the areas of seawater desalination and the emerging sector of green hydrogen and its uses.
In order to place Morocco in the club of countries with high potential in this sector of the future, and to respond to the multiple projects carried out by investors and world leaders, the Sovereign has given His High Instructions to the effect of developing, in the as soon as possible, an operational and incentive “Morocco Offer”, covering the entire value chain of the green hydrogen sector in Morocco. It should include, in addition to the regulatory and institutional framework, the plan of the necessary infrastructures.
This working meeting took place in the presence of the Adviser to HM the King, Mr. Fouad Ali El Himma, the Minister of the Interior, Mr. Abdelouafi Laftit, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mrs. Nadia Fettah , the Minister for Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Ms. Leila Benali, and the Director General of the National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water, Mr. Abderrahim El Hafidi”
