In Russia, few people do not know the Soviet hit “The Adventures of Pinocchio” with Rolan Bykov, Vladimir Etush and Rina Zelena. This film-tale is constantly broadcast on domestic television, and both children and adults know the song of the protagonist performed by actor Dmitry Iosifov by heart.

Leonid Nechaev was responsible for shooting the cult tape, he also had the last word during the selection of actors. Many boys of different ages auditioned for the role of Pinocchio. It is noteworthy that Dmitry Iosifov initially did not even try to break into the main role. He expected to play another doll in the film, the cocky Harlequin. However, luck smiled at Dmitry, and he was entrusted with the rogue Pinocchio.
Filming in Nechaev’s tape was difficult. To begin with, the director constantly urged the young actor to do a dangerous stunt or misbehave. That is why Vladimir Etush, who played Karabas-Barabas in the film, disliked Iosifov.
“When they were filming the scene in Yalta, where I, sitting on a pine tree, throw cones, Nechaev provoked me: “Do you see this unpleasant uncle? Here, take a bump and hit him in the crown as accurately as possible! And the more you hurt, the better! After the first take, Etush comes up and says: “Where did you get this impudent boy? Do you know how painful it is to hit the head?! Remove it or explain that it is not necessary to do this!” After that, the director came up and said: “Great! Come on even stronger!” – shared Dmitry Iosifov on the air of the program “The Fate of a Man”.
Be that as it may, the artist did not have to complain in the end. The tape “The Adventures of Pinocchio” brought him fame. The whole country knew this golden-haired boy with an infectious smile and radiant eyes. Iosifov himself fell in love with his profession, although before Pinocchio he didn’t really think regarding the acting path. But following filming with Nechaev, he set on fire with the idea of becoming not only an artist, but also a director.
Dmitry’s dream came true. After the 90s, he did not act in films much, but he became a director. It was Iosifov who gave the audience, for example, the series “Catherine. Rise”, “Catherine. Impostors” and “Elizabeth”, the second season of which people are now looking forward to. So, unlike many children of actors from Soviet films, Dmitry has nothing to complain regarding his fate. He did not leave the profession and is happy with everything.
A month ago, Iosifov turned 57 years old. And, of course, the past years have left a mark on the artist. The once-golden curls have turned gray, and the face is dotted with wrinkles. But the performer of the role of Pinocchio is still smiling infectiously.
