Jalel Kadri’s regrets after the draw against Denmark: “We wanted more”

This Tuesday followingnoon, Tunisia and Denmark faced each other for their entry into the running in the 2022 World Cup. The favourites, Denmark, were held in check by a valiant Tunisian team, very solid tactically and very committed physical. The match was fairly balanced overall with 12 shots from each side, but the Tunisians missed out with just one shot on target. The Danes have themselves aimed just six times.

If the intensity was stronger from the Eagles of Carthage, the feeling was that they might have gotten better as a result. This is also what the Tunisian coach, Jalek Kadri, thinks, rather disappointed not to have taken the three points once morest the Danes.

“The players have shown that they are in good shape and, physically, that they have enormous qualities. I think we deserved this point even if we wanted more. It goes without saying that following this type of match, the whole team learns. We knew that we were playing once morest a big formation of the tournament. The team played very well and I congratulate them. But we lacked a little efficiency […] We have to score goals, not just have chances. We did our best, we tried to imprint our identity in this game. We want to pass this round and we remain quite optimistic regarding getting there.”

This start to the competition is not ideal for Denmark, yet among the two favorites in Group D for qualification in the round of 16. On the Tunisian side, despite the regrets regarding the meeting, this point can be very interesting in the quest for passage to the second round. The two teams share first place with one point while waiting for the meeting between France and Australia this Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m. It’s a great opportunity for the Blues to take the lead of this group from the first day.
