A 33-year-old man drove on Tuesday morning at 6.45 a.m. on the main road from Lenzerheide GR in the direction of Valbella. According to the first findings of the Graubünden cantonal police, his vehicle skidded in a right-hand curve at the La Riva bus stop and collided sideways with a Postbus approaching from the opposite direction.
Third parties provided first aid to the seriously injured driver and initiated resuscitation together with the fire brigade. An ambulance team from the Mittelbünden rescue service and a Rega crew continued the work. The Portuguese, who lives in Switzerland, died at the scene of the accident.
The Vaz/Obervaz and Churwalden fire brigades and the municipal police were deployed to support and secure the scene of the accident and to divert traffic via the Voa Dieschen. Family members of the deceased were cared for by Care-Team Grischun. The public prosecutor’s office and the Graubünden canton police are investigating the exact circumstances that led to this traffic accident.
