The Taiwanese manufacturer of processors MediaTek has become over the years the technological showcase of the British supplier of IP Arm cores. Available before the end of the year for high-end smartphones, MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9200 is the first circuit to combine the Cortex-X3 processor core and Arm’s Immortalis-G715 graphics processor. in a chip benefiting from a 4nm process from TSMC.
Immortalis-G715 is Arm’s first GPU to offer native support for the ray tracing so dear to video game enthusiasts, and offers 32% more performance than previous Dimensity 9000 GPUs. .85GHz and four Cortex-A510 at 1.8GHz.
MediaTek’s Dimensity 9200 processor gets other improvements, starting with a 35% faster AI accelerator (APU 690). It is also compatible with Wi-Fi 7 (up to 6.5Gbit/s) and LPDDR5X (up to 8533Mbit/s). Note that its Imagiq 890 image processor interfaces directly with RGBW imagers, and, not having to perform a Bayer filter conversion, therefore consumes significantly less energy.
