“We will do everything to defend our people”: Syrian Kurdistan prepares for a major attack

Eleven bodies are wrapped in a red, yellow and green flag. “Martyrs don’t die,” chanted the crowd in Kurdish. This morning of Monday, November 21, less than 10 kilometers from the Turkish border, “the martyrs” were buried in the small cemetery in the town of Al-Malikiyah, 40,000 souls, in northeastern Syria, following a week -end under the lights of his neighbour. Operation Sword Claw, led by 70 Turkish army planes and more than twenty drones, has claimed 35 lives and injured more than 70 since Sunday in these border areas, controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) dominated by the Kurds. “We will do everything to defend our people”, confides to the Temps Abdulkarim Omar, the chairman of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Northeast Autonomous Region, reached by telephone.
