Free launches a new, very advanced “screen saver” function on the Delta and Revolution Freeboxes

A new screen saver feature on the Freebox which will allow you to create dedicated applications.

Free has just integrated a new function on the Player of the Freebox Revolution, and on the Player of the Freebox Delta-Devialet (following restart following this morning’s update). This is a screen saver but is particularly advanced. It consists of two parts.

First of all, the new function appears in the “display” menu of the Players concerned under the name of “screen saver settings”.

Once in this section, it is possible to activate this screen saver and to choose the period beyond which it is automatically activated if you have no interaction with your Freebox. But it is also possible to “change the screensaver”

Free offers one by default, which displays the word “Freebox” along with the time in a moving rectangle. The second possibility is that it is also possible to choose others from the FreeStore.

And Free has just launched a new application in the FreeStore which offers other possibilities and which is called Diaporama Screensaver.

To benefit from this new “Diaporama Screensaver” application, simply go to the FreeStore and download it for free. This allows you to choose image banks that will be displayed at a regular interval that you can define (10, 20 or 30 seconds). There are two image banks available: Pixels and Pixabay. Both have thousands of images.

But beyond that, you can even create your own image bank on your Freebox’s hard drive, and select it as a screen saver.

As we can see, Free has not just launched a simple screensaver, but a tool that will allow amateur or professional developers to offer their own screensaver applications on the FreeStore.
