As we anticipated, the Chicago Blackhawks aren’t having the best of seasons. With a 6-8-3 record, Chicago is on course to finish in the depths of the Western Conference.
And with the likes of Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Andreas Athanasiou and Max Domi, we can expect a lot of changes by the trade deadline.
Toews, who is counting on a salary of $10.5 million this season, will be more difficult to trade, but Kane, who is counting on the same annual amount, might change his address.
Besides, watch the Boston Bruins in this case. A very well placed man in the NHL believes that Kane in Boston would be a perfect fit.

The problem: The Bruins don’t have any pennies available under the salary cap.
The Hawks might withhold salary, but then once more, $5.25 million (half of 10.5) is a lot of money.
According to the NHL executive, Boston was already interested in the 88 at the start of the season, but with the team’s strong start to the season, they might be even more serious on the case.
Imagine a top-6 made up of Marchand, Pastrnak, Bergeron, Krejci, Kane and Hall. Six elite players on the same team. Having Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle on a third line isn’t stingy either.
But hey, before seeing Kane in Boston, Don Sweeney will have to do some financial gymnastics. In return, might he send another big payday to Chicago? It’s possible. Nick Foligno, Craig Smith and Pavel Zacha are candidates.
One thing is certain, Sweeney will have his work cut out for him next year. Of the players whose contract expires at the end of the season, there are no less than 13. David Pastrnak, Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci and Jeremy Swayman (RFA) are part of the lot. But for now, the Bruins are well positioned in first place overall with a 16-2 record. They are still unbeaten at home following 11 games.
