The head of the Arab Tawheed Party, Wiam Wahhab, revealed that “the dialogue began between Hezbollah and the army commander, in a meeting last week between Joseph Aoun and Wafiq Safa, in Yarzeh. Its nature is political, not security.”
Wahhab indicated in an interview with MTV that “Hezbollah will not abandon Franjieh unless it announces its refusal to run in person, and we have three options: Franjieh’s apology, Basil’s acceptance of him, or the election of the army commander, according to an American-Iranian agreement through the French.”
He added, “Geagea acts like a man of states and institutions, especially with regard to his position on the session and the quorum, and it is not possible to continue dealing with him on the basis of his past only, and he is closer to a settlement with Franjieh than with Basil.”
He continued, “Hezbollah did not move to” Plan B “and it is still with Franjieh, but it does not want to break Bassil and can, for example, elect Franjieh as president without Bassil’s votes if he gets the approval of Saudi Arabia.”
Wahhab concluded, “I believe that Basil is not yet convinced that his presidential chances are non-existent, and that the US sanctions are not the obstacle to his arrival, but rather the internal circumstances, and he must use his votes in the right place before it is too late.”
