Hugo, what youth programs marked you during your childhood?

The Sentinels of the Air with Joe 90 and captain Scarlett, for their international side, their espionage aspect and their futuristic aspect. Also, there was Ultraman, Spiderman and Batman. They were superheroes who might save the world. Finally, Fanfreluche, La Ribouldingue, Pumpkin Pop et Soil & Goblet. With them, we stimulated our imagination in all simplicity.

What are your fondest TV memories from this period?

As there were no specialized channels for children, the moments during the Christmas holidays, spring break or Easter, we were presented in bursts Tintinthem Asterixthem Lucky Luke et The Christmas Martian [film québécois, NDLR] with Marcel Sabourin. For me, it was a moment of rejoicing, and I might stroll around in my pajamas drinking a glass of Quick and eating a “grilled-cheese”.

Did you watch a lot of TV when you were young?

No, more often than not. I was a child who loved to play outside and be in the company of my happy band of friends, seeking to discover the world in my neighborhood.

Is there a character who influenced you?

Like many young people my age, superheroes occupied a place in my imagination.

Is there still a song from a show that sticks in your mind?

That of Pumpkin Pop, with its dynamic, joyful and psychedelic opening theme…

Is there a character you would have liked to play for children?

Yes. A character who promotes the imagination, openness to the world and the other, and above all who is not diluted in the administrative heaviness that can stifle spontaneity.
