Our daily bread: Tyrolean church crafts with a future
The Catholic Church has contributed a lot to the emergence of some craft trades and is still an important client for craft trades today, even if these trades have constantly evolved over time. Helena Fröhlich presents three of them in more detail in her documentation: East Tyrolean Martin Berger works as a scaffoldless church tower roofer at a height of around 30 meters. The Zillertal organ builder Christian Erler restores, repairs and overhauls organs throughout Austria, and he also builds them himself, together with his son Pius. And Natascha Mader runs the Innsbruck glass painting, which has existed since 1861. There are more than 4000 cathedrals and many profane buildings with windows from the Innsbruck handicraft business worldwide.
