It is in a building with a rather special history that Jonas, a 20-year-old Belgian, will open his chip shop. The reason ? He will serve his clients from November 21 in a former swingers club in Zwevezele, in the north of the country. The young entrepreneur explains his choice to HBVL.
After studying hospitality and finding work in a large restaurant, Jonas understood that what he liked was working as a fry cook. Bad luck, the chip shop in which he worked closed its doors due to the coronavirus health crisis. So he decided to take his future into his own hands and open his own business.
It is therefore thanks to Covid-19 that Jonas was able to realize his dream: “We decided to buy this property to transform it into a chip shop (…) I discovered that the oldest café in Zwevezele was located here, the Congo coffee. It was followed by Tommie’s and Amaretto, two swingers’ clubs.
And inevitably, renovating such an establishment can offer you some surprises. Jonas adds that “there is no sign of that now, although we found some strange things during the renovation. But that, too, is now part of the story.”
