War in Ukraine: another mysterious death in the Russian ranks

A suicide that raises many doubts. The Russian media announced, this Thursday, November 17, the death of Russian Colonel, Vadim Boyko. Referring to the thesis of suicide by gunshot, the local press explained that the body of the 44-year-old man had been found in his office in Vladivostok. “If officers start shooting at each other, something is wrong with the country and with military service,” the local TV director wrote on Facebook, saying authorities had indeed confirmed the thesis that Vadim Boyko s was given death.

However, this track does not seem to be the one favored by everyone. According to the independent media Baza, it is indeed an assassination. The body of the colonel in charge of the partial mobilization in Russia was riddled with bullets. Five casings were thus found in the room where the soldier’s body lay. For Baza, it is inconceivable that Vadim Boyko is the author of the shots. Dismissing the thesis of suicide, the media points out that no letter had been discovered in the office.

This is not a first within the Russian ranks

This story echoes a another equally strange death in the Russian ranks. On October 14, the military commissar in the Russian Far East, Roman Malyk, was found dead. The local press immediately claimed that the man responsible for mobilizing and enlisting Russians to fight in Ukraine had taken his own life. “Signs of suicide” by hanging had thus been mentioned by the press. This thesis, however, was quickly denied by those close to the veteran of the war in Chechnya. For them, the death had to be linked to the attacks once morest the enrollment centers observed in several places in Russia.
