Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Food and Drug Authority in Saudi Arabia confirmed, through its official account on the “Twitter” website, that there is no truth to the widespread allegations that canned tuna is rotten fish and hydrogenated oil, and is a cause of skin diseases.

She explained that canned tuna is a product prepared from clean and healthy tuna fish, packed in tightly closed packages, and treated sufficiently to ensure its suitability for the consumer, as stipulated in the approved technical regulations issued by the authority.

Canned tuna contains vegetable oils and does not produce trans fats.

The Ministry of Health and Population, through its official Facebook account, advised all hypertensive patients to avoid eating canned food, such as tuna, for their safety.
