Algeria has set new rules for the construction and importation of new vehicles which are contained in two specifications specific to each activity and which were published this Thursday, November 17 in the Official Journal.
As required by the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune last Sunday during the meeting of the Council of Ministers, the specifications relating to the activity of car dealers in Algeria were published this Thursday, November 17.
Article 4 prohibits multi-brand dealerships, specifying that “the exercise of the activity of dealer of new vehicles is subject to the conclusion of a dealership contract binding the dealer to a single conceding manufacturer”.
Among the documents required in the file of an application “prior authorization”who “does not constitute an authorization to actually exercise the activity”is the presentation of a “exclusive dealership contract or memorandum of understanding drawn up between the conceding manufacturer and the applicant for the exercise of the activity of dealership of new vehicles, for a minimum period of five years. »
Algeria does not authorize the import of diesel vehicles
To exercise the activity of car dealership, an authorization is essential. This document is issued by the Ministry of Industry upon presentation of a file.
“Are authorized for importation by dealers of new vehicles, in the category of passenger vehicles, only those equipped with a petrol, electric, hydrogen, hybrid engine: petrol/electric, petrol/hydrogen, or LPG / CNG or be predisposed to it, and whose gas emissions comply with the legislation and regulations in force”, specifies article 29 of the specifications.
For the sale price of the vehicle, the specifications prohibit its upward revision following delivery of the purchase order to the customer. “The selling price of that appearing on the order form for the new vehicle must be firm, non-revisable and non-updateable”.
For the delivery time of the new vehicle ordered, it is fixed at 45 days from the date of the order. “However, this period may be extended by mutual agreement of the two parties, on the basis of a written document”, mais in case of payment of the “full price of the vehicle, the authorized dealer is required to deliver the new vehicle within seven days at the latest”.
