Professor Jochen Schmidt warned that psychological stress hurts teeth. It causes less saliva, which contains many valuable components such as minerals, which protect tooth enamel, immunoglobulins, which kill pathogens, and proteins, which protect teeth from acid erosion.

The German dentist added that psychological stress causes the immune system to weaken, which raises the risk of gum infections and bruxism.

To avoid dental problems, stress should be combated by practicing relaxation techniques such as yoga and meditation. It is also possible to resort to psychological treatment in the event of suffering from psychological tension continuously.
