Graubünden: She wants to boil water… but it explodes
A gas leak caused an explosion in a restaurant in San Bernardino (GR). There were no injuries but the material damage amounted to several tens of thousands of francs.
Monday, shortly before 11 a.m., an employee of a restaurant in San Bernardino (GR) wanted to boil water with a gas stove. Gas then escaped from the installation and ignited. An explosion ensued.
The employee and a client present on the scene at the time of the incident were able to leave the building on their own. They were not injured in the explosion. The material damage amounts to several tens of thousands of francs, indicates the cantonal police of Graubünden in a press release.
The area near the restaurant was closed until 2:30 p.m. to allow the intervention of law enforcement, firefighters, a gas specialist and a static engineer. The exact sequence of events leading to the explosion is the subject of an investigation, concludes the Graubünden cantonal police.
