A visit to the provincial services of Hainaut Development and the reading of its report made it possible to confirm the presence of a particular fungus which in particular causes asthma. It is seen in the form of a blackish soot on the trunk. “This fungus is responsible for maple soot […] Six sycamore maples had to be felled, of which only one might be remarkable.”
The people who took care of it had to put on “heavy protective equipment”. The mayor specifies that it was necessary to tape the gloves to the suit! It was also promised that this handful of trees would be replaced by 200 plants.
