Last Friday, November 11, around 6:20 p.m., a man pulled out a handgun at a grocery store in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood. The 24-year-old wanted the contents of the crate. Except that the store employee did not let it go and pulled a gun from his belt and opened fire on the assailant.
The thief was shot in the chest but fought back, explains CBS, hitting the employee, a 63-year-old Palestinian national, in the chest and back. When the police arrived on the scene, they discovered the latter injured and he was taken to hospital where he died.
The assailant managed to get out of the grocery store, with the misnamed El Barakah (the blessing) but collapsed a block away, where he was found dead.
