This bus has already screened more than 4,000 women

He moved Wednesday and Thursday in La Baule (Loire-Atlantique) for what will be its fourteenth and penultimate stage of the year 2022. The Women’s Heart Bus is regarding to complete its tour of France to raise awareness of cardiovascular diseases. This converted vehicle stops in cities (Toulouse, Lille, Marseille, Le Havre, etc.) to offer “cardiovascular, metabolic and gynecological screening for women in vulnerable situations”. Appointments are free and mainly provided by local health professionals.

“Since the beginning of the year, some 4,000 women have already benefited from screening”, indicate the foundation Acting for the hearts of women, which funds the scheme. Several of them have also returned to a coordinated care pathway.

Leading cause of death

“Beyond the satisfaction of saving lives, we will be able to produce an annual barometer of the cardiovascular and gynecological health of women in France”, rejoices the foundation. The fifteenth and final leg of the 2022 tour will be in Bobigny (Seine-Saint-Denis) from November 23 to 25.

With 76,000 deaths per year, cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death for French women, ahead of cancer. Women in precariousness are more exposed than others.
