Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp retired with an ankle injury in Sunday’s 27-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth quarter.
After the coaches took care of him on the sidelines, Kupp went to the locker room.
Initial tests on Kupp’s ankle appear to show he has avoided a worst-case scenario, sources tell The Athletic. According to reports, he will undergo further tests in the next few days.
Kupp was injured when a Cardinals defenseman rolled onto his leg while attempting to catch a high pass from quarterback John Wolford.
Rams head coach Sean McVay gave no information on Kupp’s condition following the game.
“All I know is that it didn’t look good,” McVay said.
With Matthew Stafford out with a concussion, LA’s passing attack struggled for most of the game. Kupp had three catches for -1 yards before retiring.
Kupp was named Offensive Player of the Year last season following leading the league in receptions (145), yards (1,947) and touchdowns (16).
