Pixel 7 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 Blind Test Results

Hello.

It’s time to take stock and evaluate which camera and in which smartphone, in your opinion, is the best. Having a Pixel 7 Pro makes this an interesting comparison. Let’s take a look at what happened.

1. Cloudy morning, Karl Marx

A simple shot, here you need to look at the background, as well as at the monument to Marx. The first place was given to Pixel, then comes Fold, and only then – iPhone.

2. Tsvetnoy Boulevard, glass and trees in the foreground

iPhone wins, then Fold, and lasts Pixel.

3. Shot along the street

By a wide margin, the first place belongs to Fold. Then two other smartphones come with approximately the same results.

4. Number on the table

First place for the Fold, then the iPhone, lasts the list of Pixel.

5. Walking monument

The results with the iPhone are better, but very close to the Pixel, the outsider is the Fold.

6. Wire braided gramophone

Here the situation is somewhat different, the first place belongs to Fold, then Pixel, and iPhone closes the top three.

7. Buildings

The votes were distributed as follows: iPhone, Pixel, Fold.

8. Painting on the house

With an overwhelming advantage, the picture from the iPhone is in the lead, but the other two devices performed worse.

9. Pavilion with artificial flowers

First place is Fold, Pixel is close to it, then iPhone is already coming.

10. Close-up – needles

The unequivocal winner is Fold, but the other two devices are inferior to it.

11. Lanterns and the road

The Pixel shot is more atmospheric (vivat, computational photography), the other two devices are close, but they are worse.

12. Benches in the dark

And the same situation repeats once more, Pixel is the first, and the rest are regarding the same.

13. Playground at night

Here the iPhone takes the lead, then the Pixel, and only then the Fold.

14. Skyscraper in the evening

Exactly the opposite story: the first place belongs to Fold, then Pixel, and the iPhone closes the top three.

15. Squirrel on asphalt

There is a win for Pixel by a devastating margin.

16. Yellow autumn leaf in the night

There is a win for the iPhone with a crushing margin.

17. Greenery in the park

The Fold shot worked best, the other two devices were worse.

18. Portrait mode

First place for Pixel. The other two devices are worse.

19. Portrait in normal mode

Repetition of the situation, the first place for Pixel.

A lot of people want an honest comparison, whatever that means. The problem is that on a different set of photos we will always get a different result. In this comparison, for example, the Pixel did a better job with portrait mode. But can we say that in all lighting conditions there will be the same result? This is unlikely. This statement is clearly seen in the examples of photos from Fold4, many pictures here are rated better than other devices (7 first places, the other two have six each). Does this make the Fold camera better? Definitely not.

See how the places are distributed.

Number of first places Number of second places Number of third places
Pixel 7 Pro 6 8 5
Fold4 7 3 9
iPhone 14 Pro 6 8 5

This year, the flagships are in a very tight formation, in aggregate their photo quality is comparable, although somewhere pluses come out due to additional settings or additional camera modules. In general, I can say that I am satisfied with the quality of shooting of each of the listed devices, I do not feel the desire to put one aside and get some other of them. Of course, everyone has their own twist – the Pixel is better at portrait shooting in most situations, but the iPhone and Fold are better at macro. Greens, trees, and landscapes in general are handled well by the Fold or iPhone, but the Pixel isn’t as interesting here. Night shooting on the Fold is inferior to other devices. In a word, you can find differences, it all depends on what exactly you are mainly photographing. Alas, despite the versatility of cameras, they are not the same in how they shoot. Keep this in mind if these nuances are important to you. But if not, then in each device you will receive a flagship-level camera with good performance.
