Samsung announces a collaboration with Maison Margiela.

The South Korean company has just unveiled its latest product: a Galaxy Z Flip 4 smartphone in collaboration with Margiela House. A limited edition that will be available for sale from December 1st.

An avant-garde design.

This haute-couture foldable smartphone features an all-white design, incorporating all the codes of the Parisian house. The back takes up Margiela’s own “decorticated” technique, which consists of removing the outer layers of an object to expose the heart, revealing thin translucent lines representing the internal circuits of the smartphone. The famous “code Margiela” is also taken up. Here it is the number 11 which is circled indicating that this is a unisex accessory.

This edition with its disruptive design is accompanied by two covers, always in the spirit of the luxury house. The first, in painted leather, adopts the “Bianchetto” technique dear to the brand. The second is always white but this time is accompanied by a ring which consolidates the maintenance of the phone. The ring is stamped with the emblematic Margiela numerals and four stitchings form the logo.

“Samsung and Maison Margiela both believe in breaking convention and allowing people to celebrate their uniqueness. This collaboration is no exception. By combining revolutionary technology and unique design, we want to give them the opportunity to express their true authenticity and celebrate what makes them unique”

Stephanie Choi, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of the MX division of Samsung Electronics.

This is not Samsung’s first fashion collaboration. Thom Browne, Dr. Denim, Maison Kitsuné and Lacoste are among the list of brands to have worked with the South Korean company. A way to compete the Apple giantstill quite hesitant on this ground.
