A Brussels police inspector would work as a sex worker: an open investigation

The Brussels police have opened an internal investigation into one of its members, who would have an additional income as a sex worker, a spokeswoman said on Wednesday, confirming information from Het Laatste Nieuws. “The rules concerning secondary occupation are clear, no additional activity can be carried out in conflict with the neutrality and ethics of the police”underlined the spokesperson.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the person concerned is a police inspector, who posted an announcement on the adult website Quartier Rouge. The announcement was brought to the attention of the chief of staff, who immediately called for an investigation into the inspector involved, explained the spokeswoman for the zone Ilse Van de Keere.

If police officers are authorized to carry out a complementary activity, this is however subject to conditions. “The rules are clear and can be found in the ministerial circular of May 3, 2019: one cannot carry out any additional activity which would conflict with the neutrality and ethics of the police and one must always comply with the obligation notification to the employer“, insisted the spokesperson.
