Cough L’Ensemble Myrtho in concert

If the open-air theater of Tourtouse takes its winter quarters, the association Remp’Arts continues its programming. She offers in the church, on Saturday November 5 from 6:30 p.m., a concert by the musical ensemble Myrtho, “Au gré d’Eros”.

After giving a concert last week at the Hellenic Cultural Center in Paris, it’s an unexpected chance to be able to hear him in Tourtouze.

This ensemble, which borrows its name from the poem by Gérard de Nerval, attempts to musically and poetically connect the Mediterranean East and West, both by exploring and rearranging traditional themes and popular poems from the Mediterranean, and by re-setting to music of poetry sometimes as old as that of Sappho (7th century BC), or Latin elegiacs (1st century).

Popular and learned love poetry, ancient legends or even epic themes come back to life, carried by the traditional songs of Greece, Corsica, Sephardic Spain and France. Latin languages rub shoulders with the harsher sounds of Greek dialects and the harmonies of Western Europe mingle with themes from the Aegean Sea.

The Myrtho ensemble is made up of four musicians: Laetitia Marcangeli (vocals and hurdy-gurdy), Pierre Blanchut (santour), Raphaël Sibertin-Blanc (violin, viola and kemençe), Timothée Tchang Tien Ling (percussion from the Arab world).

Price €15, €10 for members and the specific public (unemployed, RSA, students, etc.) and free for those under 18.
