ABOUT suspension of Russia’s participation the implementation of the “grain deal” was announced on October 29 by the Russian Defense Ministry following the attack of Ukrainian drones on ships of the Black Sea Fleet. The attacked ships were involved in securing the “grain corridor”.
The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the Russian side cannot guarantee safety of civilian dry cargo ships that take part in the export of Ukrainian agricultural products.
On October 31, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the movement of ships along the security corridor in the Black Sea as part of the “grain deal” was suspended until the situation with the attack of Ukrainian drones on Russian ships in Sevastopol was clarified. The department claims that at the moment there can be no question of guaranteeing the safety of any ships in this direction until Kyiv accepts obligations not to use the “grain corridor” for military purposes.
The Grain Deal was signed in Istanbul on July 22. She proposed opening the ports of the Odessa region for the export of grain across the Black Sea and the abolition of restrictions affecting the supply of fertilizers and food from Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed dissatisfaction with the implementation of the deal, since, contrary to initial assurances, most of the grain did not go to the poorest countries, and restrictions on Moscow were never lifted.
