Marco Odermatt sees the reason for this possible bitterness in Marcel Hirscher’s very great ambition.
“He very likely never celebrated a win spontaneously. He mightn’t do that because he was already in focus at the next race,” said last season’s overall World Cup winner in a double interview with Hermann Maier to “Blick”.
However, he ticks differently. “I want to savor a special success right away,” explained the 25-year-old, adding: “After the season, I can’t celebrate because the emotions are no longer fresh.”

Kristoffersen faster thanks to “Van Deer”? Odermatt has a clear opinion

Odermatt had enough reason to celebrate last season. The athlete from Stans not only triumphed in the overall World Cup, but also secured the small crystal globe in giant slalom. He was also crowned Olympic giant slalom champion in Beijing.
Hermann Maier praises Odermatt’s relaxed attitude
Many fans and experts assume that Odermatt’s facilities will be able to add a few more balls and medals in the coming years. But despite all the ambition, fun should not be neglected in the future either. “To put it a bit exaggeratedly, I’d rather win a crystal ball less if I can celebrate the individual success appropriately,” explained Odermatt.
Maier agreed to this. “I like your attitude,” praised the “Herminator”, who himself was able to win the big crystal ball four times. “A hearty celebration at the right moment can be profitable for a racing driver. Above all, the fast disciplines also represent an enormous psychological challenge,” said the 49-year-old.
Even if Odermatt and Hirscher obviously have different ideas regarding their lifestyle away from the slopes, they are quite similar in their dominance on the slopes. The 25-year-old Swiss won last winter thanks to seven victories this season in the overall World Cup with 467 points ahead of Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen.
