If you feel like 5G is faster with your new iPhone 14 Pro. It’s not just an impression, it is much faster than on the old iPhone 13.
During our test of the iPhone 14, whose‘iPhone 14 Pro, I was surprised to measure significant changes in 5G speeds. Without having tools to carry out technical comparisons, we observed “improvements in 5G speeds, as well as network grip in general”.
This observation has just been confirmed by a speed test specialist, Ookla, which publishes the application Speedtest. The test Have been realised with Speedtest Intelligence. By examining data from some countries during the first weeks following launch, they were able to confirm that the iPhone 14 outperformed the iPhone 13 in 5G speed tests.
Much higher throughput
The study shows that the iPhone 14 Pro and theiPhone 14 Pro Maxequipped with the Apple A16 Bionic and Qualcomm’s X65 modem for 5G, are much faster than the iPhone 13 models. Even with the iPhone 14, equipped with the A15 Bionic chip, which has the same 5G modem than iPhone 13 Pro, the performance is higher.
This is not a small development, we are talking regarding downlink and incoming speeds which go from 121 Mb/s on a iPhone 13 Pro at 145 Mb/s on an iPhone 14 Pro. Obviously, these are average values observed in a sample of smartphones, and it is not a technical test with an identical protocol. Nevertheless, these data have the advantage of illustrating what we have been able to observe on our side.

The study also shows that Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 does less well than the Galaxy Z Fold 3. These performance differences are not only related to the modem used, but also to the software optimization and the integration of the antennas in the chassis of the device.
