The truth is that the technological giant did not have many more outlets, but now it is has confirmed via Apple marketing lead Greg Joswiak, to a question from The Wall Street Journal’s Joanna Stern.

Stern he asked if the company would replace Lighting now that the European Union requires all phones sold in its member countries to use the jack if they have a physical charger. Joswiak He responded by saying: “Obviously we will have to comply, we have no other option”.

Following the response, Stern asked when we might expect to see USB-C in an iPhone. Joswiak responded that “Europeans are the ones who dictate the time for European customers.” Currently, the law dictates that “all mobile phones and tablets” must use USB-C by “autumn 2024”. The Apple executive declined to say whether the company would include the connector in phones sold outside the EU.

However, he also wanted to make clear what Apple’s opinion was. Basically, he gave a long explanation regarding how the company has historically preferred to go its own way and trust its engineers rather than be forced to adopt hardware standards by legislators. In addition, he cited examples around Micro USB and hearing aid compliance as situations where Apple was forced to comply with ill-considered requirements.

Finally, he stated that changing the iPhone from Lightning to USB-C would create a lot of electronic waste.[[The Verge]
