Gilles Verdez attacks the former Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe, live on “TPMP”

From the Elysée to France Televisions. The path may seem more prestigious than that of Jean Castex who, following having officiated as Prime Minister, will soon take the helm of the RATP. Indeed, Edouard Philippe, first “right arm” of Emmanuel Macron during the first five-year term of the current Head of State, will soon see one of his projects adapted to television. Writer in addition to being a politician, the former Prime Minister wrote, in collaboration with Gilles Boyer, a novel entitled In the darkin 2010 and France Televisions chose to adapt it in series.

In the book, the two politicians recount an adventure which “plunges us into the heart of a system whose ultimate goal is the conquest of power” as noted by our colleagues from Parisian. It was through a press release on October 18 that the group announced the news. The project should be delivered for the spring of 2023 but that does not seem to be to everyone’s taste.

Edouard Philippe shocks Gilles Verdez

Indeed, Gilles Verdez, who recently sparked controversy following the murder of young Lolaexpressed his anger on the set of TPMP this Wednesday, October 19. “It shocks me deeply”he dropped immediately before continuing and bringing some arguments to the remarks he was making: “in what other country are the politicians… and I would point out to you that he, one day, he will run for the presidency of the Republic… in what other country will he sell a book, in adaptation of a series, to the public channel? But it’s is a scandal!”

“If it wasn’t for Edouard Philippe, he would never have sold his thing. Frankly, it’s the French mix of genres, I hate that”, he finally concluded. Guillaume Genton, for his part, does not say he is shocked. But the columnist of TPMP asked to ask the right questions. “The question that must be asked is ‘would this book have been adapted if it had not been Edouard Philippe?’ Of course not. Obviously he played on the fact that he was Prime Minister to approach France Télévisions”he said before concluding: “France Télévisions also uses him because he has a huge popularity rating, I think the two use each other”.
