Hobart: West Indies and Ireland came back with a win following losing the first game in Twenty20 World Cup. Both Scotland and Zimbabwe, who had won the first match, lost. West Indies beat Zimbabwe by 31 runs and Ireland beat Scotland by six wickets. With this, all the four teams in Group B got two points each. The winners of Friday’s finals will also enter the Super 12.
Batting first once morest Zimbabwe, West Indies scored 153 runs for seven and bowled out their opponents for 122 runs in 18.2 overs. Alzari Joseph with four wickets and Jason Holder with three wickets shone in West Indies bowling. Scotland posted a superb score of 176 for five, but Ireland won with six balls and six wickets in hand. Curtis Kampfer (72 not out in 32 balls) and George Dockrell (39 not out in 27 balls) helped Ireland put on 121 runs off 57 balls for the impenetrable fifth wicket. Kampfer, who took two wickets, also shone in bowling.
India’s second warm-up washed away by rain
Brisbane: India’s last warm-up match before the Twenty20 World Cup was drowned in rain. Due to heavy rain, India-New Zealand match was stopped without even a single ball being bowled. The South Africa-Bangladesh match was also suspended. The rain started during the Afghanistan-Pakistan match that started before that. After Afghanistan’s innings, by the time Pakistan started batting, the rain came.
India beat Australia in the first warm-up match. Before that, they won one and lost one of the two practice matches once morest Western Australia.
