Ugandan coffee shipments in August drop 14% amid drought

The Uganda Coffee Development Agency (UCDA) reported that exports of 60kg bags of coffee beans in August stood at 503,695, a 14% drop from last August’s peak.

UCDA also said that The drop in exports was a result of lower output this year. Because of the impact of drought in most areas across the region. The dry weather shortened the harvest season in central and eastern Uganda.

Uganda is the largest coffee exporter from Africa. that rely on the export of agricultural products as the main source of income from abroad While Ethiopia is Africa’s second largest coffee exporter.
