With a new design inherited from the most advanced iPads, Apple’s entry-level iPad has said goodbye to the home button following a 12-year relationship.
The new tenth generation iPad has a 10.9-inch screen with symmetrical frames, an A14 Bionic chip with Wi-Fi 6, optional 5G connection, a fingerprint sensor on the unlock button and a USB-C port.
The new iPad has a 12 MP front camera that stands out for its new location: it is on the horizontal edge of the screen so that it is centered when using the tablet in landscape. However, it does not support Face ID. The rear camera is 12 MP and has been enhanced with 4K video recording.
The tablet debuts new horizontal stereo speakers and a dual microphone to filter out background noise during video calls. The new iPad also debuts colors, as it will be available in blue, pink, yellow or silver.

Its screen has a resolution of 2360 x 1640 pixels, 500 nits of brightness and True Tone technology. The Touch ID system is integrated into the top button and allows you to unlock the device, sign in or use Apple Pay.
As for the accessories, there are a couple of surprises. Apple has announced a new two-piece keyboard called Magic Keyboard Folio that includes a trackpad and a flap to adjust the viewing angle. In addition, the new iPad is only compatible with the first generation Apple Pencil, so you need to buy a Lightning to USB-C adapter to be able to charge the pencil.
Unlike the iPhone, the cellular version keeps the physical SIM card around the world, but it also supports eSIM.
The new iPad can be reserved from today, October 18, but will not be available in stores until Wednesday 26. With a price of 449 dollars (579 euros) for the 64 GB Wi-Fi model and 599 dollars (779 euros) for the 5G model of the same capacity, can no longer be considered a cheap iPad. However, Apple will still sell the ninth-generation iPad starting at $329 (€429) in silver and space gray finishes.
The new Magic Keyboard Folio is available for $199 (€299). The first generation Apple Pencil costs $89 (119 euros). On the rises in European prices, it is better not to comment.
