Detecting the most common signs of pancreatic cancer in its early stages

Al Marsad newspaper: Dr. Deborah Lee of Dr Fox Online Pharmacy revealed to the Express newspaper, the main sign of pancreatic cancer.

Changes in your stool are a “common feature” of pancreatic cancer, the doctor said.

“In the early stages, pancreatic cancer can press in the head of the pancreas once morest the common bile duct, preventing the normal release of bile into the intestine,” Lee said. This results in obstructive jaundice – so the patient notices yellowing of the skin and eyes, dark urine, and pale stools ( like putty).

As pancreatic cancer progresses, it infiltrates more of the structure of the pancreas, preventing the normal production and secretion of pancreatic enzymes that are specifically produced to digest fats.” This disrupts the normal breakdown of fats in the intestine and is called pancreatic enzyme insufficiency (PEI).

The expert also talked regarding other key signs that can help detect pancreatic cancer, including:

• stomach ache.

• Jaundice.

• The onset of diabetes.

• Change in bowel habit.

• Indigestion.

• Vomiting and nausea.

• Weight loss.

• malaise (feeling weak and uncomfortable in general).

• Abdominal bloating.

• Non-cardiac chest pain.

• Shoulder pain.

• Dysphagia.

• Anorexia.

If you notice any of these warning signs, including pale, oily stools, you should contact your doctor.
