Kopa Trophy: Gavi

FC Barcelona has taken the Kopa trophy for the best young player. A year following Pedri, it was his 18-year-old teammate, Gavi, who lifted the trophy on Monday at the Théâtre du Châtelet. The marvel of Barça has experienced a meteoric trajectory in recent months, until joining the Spanish team (12 caps, 1 goal). He notably played in the final four of the League of Nations in Italy, where Spain fell in the final once morest France (2-1).

At 18, the native of Los Palacios y Villafranca, in Andalusia, established himself last season as an indestructible holder of the Catalan midfielder. With Pedri, he embodies the present and the future of Barça and the Spanish selection. Fourth winner of the trophy following Pedri (2021), Dutchman Matthijs de Ligt (2019) and Kylian Mbappé (2018), Gavi beat Frenchman Eduardo Camavinga. Lev Yachine Trophy: Thibaut Courtois

Belgian Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid) won the Yachine trophy for best goalkeeper. Elected by a jury made up of 100 specialized journalists, Courtois, 30, succeeds the Italian from Paris Saint-Germain Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Belgian international played a big role in the conquest of the Champions League and the Spanish championship by the White House during the 2021-22 season.

Trophy Gerd Müller : Robert Lewandowski

Poland’s Robert Lewandowski received the world’s top scorer trophy for the second consecutive year, renamed Gerd Müller, at the Ballon d’Or ceremony. The 34-year-old striker, transferred this summer from Bayern Munich to FC Barcelona for 45 million euros, scored 57 goals in 56 matches in all competitions during the 2021-2022 season (50 in club and 7 in selection). During the 2020-2021 fiscal year, he had scored 56 goals in 50 games.

Socrates Prize for Committed Footballer: Sadio Mané

Senegalese Sadio Mané received the Socrates Prize on Monday, awarded for the first time during the Ballon d’Or ceremony, and intended to highlight footballers involved in societal and charitable projects. The Bayern Munich striker was rewarded for his investment in the development of his native village of Bambali, in the south of Senegal, where he notably encouraged equal access for boys and girls to the practice of football. The 30-year-old player has also financed a hospital there and promised, following a gala match in June 2022, to equip the football field of this village in Casamance with a synthetic lawn.
