The 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China has assessed that the Xi Jinping government’s efforts to eliminate corruption in the country have yielded results. Xiao Pei, deputy secretary of the Party’s Central Commission for Discipline, said at a press conference that the Party Congress, which began in Beijing on Sunday, expressed strong support for the government’s impartial anti-corruption campaign.

In the ten years since Xi Jinping came to power, criminal cases have been taken once morest 553 out of 9.6 crore party members. As part of the government policy, 80,000 party members have confessed to minor and major corruption offenses over the past five years. Action was taken once morest 2.07 lakh members in ten years. Over a period of ten years, 50 lakh people are being investigated on corruption charges across the country. 11 percent of those convicted were first-time offenders. He said that it was the government’s strict measures that brought so many corrupt people to light.

CPC Party Congress decided to open China’s economy more. Zhao Chenxin, deputy director of the National Development and Innovation Commission, said globalization will ensure inclusiveness and benefit for all. Zhao was speaking at a press conference held as part of the party congress. He said hopes that China would focus on the domestic market and become self-sufficient soon would be misplaced. Zhao also said that it is important to create a new development model for the country that is high-quality, efficient and fair.
