Red Bull F1 representative “Porsche risked bringing bureaucracy to the team”[F1-Gate.com]

Red Bull F1 team principal Christian Horner says they tried to bring “too much bureaucracy” to the team over the breakdown of talks with Porsche.

Six months ago, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before Red Bull Racing and Porsche announced they would team up. However, it was announced in the summer that talks had broken down, largely because Porsche wanted too much say in the organization.

Porsche reportedly demanded a 50% stake, which was too much for Red Bull Racing.

Christian Horner believes a partnership with Porsche would have undermined the core of Red Bull Racing.

In The Diary of a CEO, Christian Horner, who gave his view on the current situation, mentioned the importance of quick internal communication in the organization and the risks posed by the deal with Porsche.

“Recently, we found ourselves in exactly that dilemma, where we had the opportunity to work with a new manufacturer with a significant stake in the team,” said Christian Horner.

“But it was recognized that our DNA would be affected if we were unable to continue to operate precisely in this manner. Our ability to make quick decisions has led us to success.”

Even without a contract with Porsche, Red Bull is developing its own engine under the name Red Bull Powertrains. The team remains open to the option of working with another manufacturer once more in the future, with Honda rumored to take over the electrical part.
