Bundesliga – Bayern Munich crush Freiburg

It is “only” Bayern Munich’s fifth victory in the league this season, but as with every success, Julian Nagelsmann’s players did not do it with finesse: Freiburg paid the price, Sunday evening at the Allianz Arena, losing heavily (5-0) at the end of the 10th day of the Bundesliga. The domination of the Bavarians was total, rewarded with goals from Serge Gnabry (13th), Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (33rd), Leroy Sané (53rd), Sadio Mané (55th) and Marcel Sabitzer (80th). Bayern overtake their evening opponent and take second place, four points behind leaders Union Berlin.

At kick-off, the Munich residents were seven points behind Union Berlin, winner of Dortmund a little earlier (2-0), and therefore absolutely needed a success. Faced with the surprising Friborg team (second with two points ahead of Bayern), undefeated since August 12 in all competitions (1-3 defeat once morest Dortmund on the second day of the Bundesliga), the task did not seem easy. But the visitors ultimately never made the weight.

Choupo-Moting, scorer and passer

In the absence of Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, Lucas Hernandez or even Kingsley Coman – injured – the defending champions largely dominated the debates. From the first quarter of an hour, Serge Gnabry scored his third league goal this season, on the lookout to head a shot from Sané repelled by Flekken (1-0, 13th). Very prominent, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, the former PSG striker, then made the break, well served by Sané and scorer with a cross shot (2-0, 33rd).

Powerless offensively, the players of Friborg suffered the enemy attacks from start to finish, until they collapsed on their return from the locker room. After a one-two with Choupo-Moting, once more him, Leroy Sané widened the gap a little more with a well-placed shot from outside the area (3-0, 53rd). In the process, Sadio Mané, left completely free by Lienhart in the area, adjusted Flekken with a lob (4-0, 55th).

In an already folded match, Marcel Sabitzer, who came into play a few minutes earlier, added a last goal, attentive to send into the back of the net a ball stored in spite of himself by Lienhart, following an intervention in front of Mané (5-0, 80th) . We are more used to seeing Bayern in the position of hunted (leader) than hunter (dolphin), but when it delivers this type of performance, the Bavarian machine seems unstoppable.
