The Minnesota Wild also lost their second game of the National Hockey League (NHL) season opener on Saturday (local time). The club of the Austrian Marco Rossi had to admit defeat to the Los Angeles Kings 6:7 in the home game. In the first game, Minnesota lost 7-3 at home to the New York Rangers.
In the first third, the Wild were already 0:3 behind in the twelfth minute, but were finally able to equalize to 6:6 in the final third, only to concede the goal to defeat Adrian Kempe in the 48th minute.
This time Rossi received only 4:33 minutes of ice time. The 21-year-old from Vorarlberg didn’t score a point and didn’t score a shot on goal. In the first third he had to go to the penalty box for two minutes because of a hook.
“I’ve never experienced a game like this”
“I’ve never seen a game like this in my career,” said Kings goalkeeper Cal Petersen, who saved 29 shots. “I hope I never have to win like that once more.” Minnesota, on the other hand, was upset regarding the idea. “Sometimes we play like a youth team in defence. We have to get better. The entire team,” said Mats Zuccarello, who scored the goal to make it 5:6.
“This game is really difficult to explain,” said Los Angeles coach Todd McLellan. “I’m not sure if we’ll concede six goals once more this season and still win.” The Californians also used former Wild top scorer Kevin Fiala, who moved from Minnesota to Los Angeles before the season for financial reasons had changed.
