Rabat – The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb and the Deputy Minister in charge of the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa are in the process of finalizing a decision of a social nature, aimed at reducing VAT on medicines and taxes on medicines. imported health products, medical and paramedical equipment and materials.
In a press release made public on Saturday, the ministry indicates that this decision, which will be announced as part of the 2023 finance bill, comes in execution of the High Royal Instructions, which put health and citizens’ access to health at the center of national concerns.
The ministry points out that this decision, which was studied by a large work team under the supervision of the two ministers, will make it possible to reduce the prices of imported medicines, health products, supplies and medical and paramedical equipment, which will contribute to provide them to citizens at reasonable prices.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection had previously announced that it was taking urgent measures to develop and secure the national strategic stock of medicines and health products exposed to current or potential supply shortages or interruptions for the year 2023, to ensure adequate and continuous supply and to take all necessary steps to prevent and mitigate any supply difficulties, the statement noted.
In this regard, a steering committee bringing together all the parties concerned has been set up, said the text, adding that it will be responsible for determining the needs for medicines and health products related to this stock, in particular medicines of importance major therapy.
