A small role in a good film is better than a hero in a bad film: Kalidas Jayaram
Kalidas Jayaram says that he always wants to be a part of good films. In an interview to Galata Plus, Kalidas said that although Vikram had a small role in the film, it gave him a big reach and he gives more importance to getting a small role in a good film than being the lead in a bad film.
‘I wanted to be a part of good films. Vikram for example. It is a commercial movie, main stream. It has many superstars. I had only two scenes in that film. I wanted to be a part of that film. The character in it had a huge reach.
Wherever I go, people now call me Vishwanan. “I prefer getting a small role in a good film rather than being the lead in a bad film,” said Kalidas.
‘My father used to do up to 17 films a year. I grew up watching those movies. My father never gave me any advice on how to act. But only one thing was said. Don’t make films for money. Because you are blessed with money. Do whatever you feel like doing. Even if you only do one film every two or three years, it should be something you like. That’s something I always keep in mind.
In the case of the children of the stars, the launch is usually done in films. Then there will be people to design projects for them and present them in a special way. They decide many things, including how to dress when going to public events. That method certainly has its merits.
But fortunately that has not happened to me. My father never said that he would make films for me. I wish it had happened like that (with a smile).
I felt that I needed such support from him. But it hasn’t happened. He came in without any support and that’s probably why it works like this in my case too,’ added Kalidas.
