London: Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane, famous for ‘Harry Potter’ films, has passed away. He was 72 years old.
Coltrane’s agent, Belinda Wright, confirmed the death on Friday at a hospital in Scotland. However, the cause of death is not clear.
Coltrane rose to fame through the 1990s thriller series ‘Crackery’. He won three British Academy Television Awards for Best Actor for his role as a detective in the film.
He also excelled in the role of Harry Potter’s mentor, Hagrid. Coltrane appeared in all eight Harry Potter films released between 2001 and 2011.
His role as a Russian mafia boss in the James Bond films ‘Golden Eye’ and ‘The World is Not Enough’ was also notable. His wife is Rona Gemmell. Spencer and Alice are children.
