The Meteorological Authority warned citizens in 12 governorates of the possibility of thunderstorms falling tomorrow, Saturday, in several areas in Jamhouria, due to an air depression on the Mediterranean Sea.
The Meteorological Authority said in a statement that there is a possibility of rain in (Matrouh, Alexandria, Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, Damietta, Dakahlia, Gharbia, Sharqia, Menoufia, Cairo, Giza and Qalyubia).
The Meteorological Authority statement indicated that the country is affected by a shallow air depression centered on the Mediterranean, accompanied by an air depression in the upper atmosphere, which increases humidity, thunder clouds and rainfall of varying intensity in the north of the country and even the governorates of Greater Cairo.
Today, Friday, Alexandria Governorate issued an urgent warning statement to citizens, including 8 instructions and warnings that must be adhered to during the wave of bad weather, in order to preserve their lives.
And according to the Meteorological Authority, on Saturday, moderate rain, sometimes thunderstorm, is expected in areas of the northern coasts and Alexandria Governorate, with an incidence of 80%.
The Alexandria Governorate called on the citizens to follow the following:
Be careful when driving during rain, and only drive when absolutely necessary and with extreme caution.
– Reducing the movement of cars, to allow the rainwater lift cars to move easily and smoothly.
Avoid driving at high speeds of more than 60 km, and maintain a greater safety distance than usual.
Not standing under the old and dilapidated balconies.
– Do not stay outdoors during lightning strikes.
Not to approach fences, metal objects and railways during lightning, in order to avoid the risk of electrocution.
Not parking on raindrops.
Do not park cars under or in places where trees are likely to fall.
For his part, Major General Mohamed Al-Sharif, Governor of Alexandria, announced that the maximum degree of preparedness and emergency has been raised in all the executive agencies in the governorate at the neighborhood level, to deal with meteorological warnings.
The governor stressed the continuation of full coordination and cooperation between all service and vital sectors in the governorate, led by the Sanitation and Drinking Water Company, the Traffic Department and Civil Protection.
He directed all the concerned executive agencies to continuously monitor the condition of the various streets and monitor any emergency cases to avoid any problems in any area as a result of the rains, and to ensure that traffic flow is achieved in all Alexandria streets.
He explained that the governorate’s operations room continues to be held permanently and continuously, in order to deal with any emergency crisis, as the room receives all citizens’ complaints regarding rainwater accumulations.
