Days following the injuries suffered by several players of the Argentine National Team, including Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala and Ángel Di María, Carlos Bilardo’s “tear theory” went viral on social networks.
“We continue to think that as long as the National Team players tear themselves up with a month to go, everything is fine. They are all good. May all the players be torn with a month to go”, began the DT champion of Mexico 86 and runner-up of Italy 90.
And he completed: “It’s very good, very good. Because you have the last month and you kill them. You physically kill them. You kill the people who are playing for Inter, for Real. If they catch you in an extension in the World Cup, then you can’t. Instead, like this, resting, doing physical exercises, sleeping, let them all tear themselves apart.
However, he clarified: “Unless at the moment they have to be operated on, which takes a month. Or the case of Heinze, who has a knee injury and cannot recover according to what one wants. Because he can be in pain in the games and he can’t have the mobility in his knee that he should have. Then, let them all tear, even with a month to go. A month you kill them all physically, and especially if there is extension”.
