Yssingeaux: young people from the Local Mission create a comic strip with a recognized designer

Since Monday, eight young people from the local Mission of the Young Loire have been working alongside Farid Boudjellal to create a comic strip in one week.

The Local Mission welcomes this week in Yssingeaux the famous cartoonist Farid Boudjellal who leads a comic book workshop with young people in Youth Engagement Contract.

The comic strip author, who is also the brother of the former president of the Toulon rugby club, Mourad Boudjellal, has written many screenplays and drawn many albums devoted to the theme of immigration (Les Soirées d’ Abdullah, Granny of Armenia), the housing crisis in France (L’Oud), racism (Jews-Arabs, Jambon-beur, Le Beurgeois) and disability (Petit Polio).

In Yssingeaux, he accompanies eight young people in the creation of a comic strip, from A to Z. Each young person makes their own drawings and their own story, around a common theme which is the help provided by the Local Mission. “We started with a blank sheet. This comic / will consist of as many stories as there are young people to do it. This brings out a diversity of styles”, evokes the designer

At the end of the workshop, the comic strip illustrating the services of the Local Mission and examples of courses will be produced and published in 100 copies. It will be distributed to schools in the area.
